Before Wonderland, there was Superb.
Simply Superb, the beloved singing group from Superb Mennonite Church, is reuniting for a special one-night concert featuring music and stories written by Grant Martens during his years as pastor there. After decades apart, original members of the group, along with some of their children, will return to the stage to share selections from The Wheatbelt Parables, Grant’s prairie-rooted collection of musical storytelling.
Blending bluegrass, humour, faith, theatre, and Saskatchewan imagination, these songs grew out of a small rural church, a musical congregation, and Grant’s gift for turning story into song. Before each selection, Grant will speak about the thought process behind the stories: where the ideas came from, how the music took shape, and how meaning, character, and community found their way into each song.
Simply Superb Again is also a fundraiser for Grant’s newest creative dream, Wonderland Theatre Company. During the concert, Grant will also share a sample of music from the upcoming production and offer a glimpse into the creative process behind it. In that sense, the entire evening becomes a musical resume: a chance to hear where Grant’s storytelling began, where it is going next, and why this new theatre company is worth supporting.

Grant Martens (A Barn Playhouse Actor for 35 years) along with friends, co-founded Wonderland Theatre Company in 2024.
Its inaugural production will be an original adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “ALICE IN WONDERLAND” and performed at The Barn Playhouse Theatre.
Victorian and turn-of-the-century children’s classics will come to life through adult-led productions made especially for children and families. Experience costumes, carnival play, music, manners, mischief, and wonder.
