“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at Sunshine Manor”.

A small group of seniors, left alone for Christmas, are determined to keep each other company over the holidays.

For Louise, this will be her first Christmas alone. Leaving behind all her family’s Christmas traditions has left a big hole. The one she’ll miss the most is the family reading of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” every December 24th. Her family started this tradition when the book first came out in 1972, when her children were just little, and it has continued to include her grandchildren.

To feel less lonely, Louise invites the other members of her games room to join her for an afternoon to “read” her favourite Christmas book. The group gathers with varying degrees of “enthusiasm”. These 60-, 70-, and 80-year-olds, read/perform a masterful rendition of this entertaining children’s book.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson is a heartwarming story about the unruly Herdman children and their unexpected participation in the local Christmas pageant. It teaches valuable lessons about compassion, acceptance, and the true meaning of Christmas.
