OUR FAMILY HAS BEEN ON THIS FARM FOR 3 GENERATIONS!

Grandma and Grandpa emmigrated to Canada from Russia in 1926. After 2 years of working in Manitoba to pay back the travel loans to the government, they came to Saskatchewan looking for a place to settle. That place was this farm!

Grandma and Grandpa

Grandpa past away when he was 50 leaving a young family to keep the farm going. Grandma lived on the farm for another 10 years before moving to Osler. She has been a big part of our lives and has come to every event that we have held at The Barn. With each visit Grandma would say, "Now I'm home, again."

Grandma past away this past year and we miss her very much. She taught us about hospitality by example. Thank-you Grandma!

Mom & Dad 2003

Mom and Dad were married in 1953. Dad had already been farming on his own for six hears, after his father died. Mom and Dad have lived in three different houses, all on the same yard! First a two room shack with no door, then the small house Grandma had lived in on the farm and finally,in 1965, we all moved into the house that stands on the yard right now. The house that Mom's brother Henry built.

Harvesting!

Mom and Dad have farmed together for over 50 years. Harvest time saw Dad on the combine and Mom trucking. It was our job to make sure that meals got to the field on time.

Growing up on the farm was a great life. A mix of responsibility and fun!

THE NEXT GENERATION OF DOING CHORES IN THE BARN

The next generation is doing a very different sort of "chore" in the barn. Jane's kids have grown up with a theatre in their back yard. They've all learned to use power tools, they've painted sets, modeled costumes, waited on tables, cleaned bathrooms, and the list goes on! Someday they will have very interesting stories to tell about how they grew up!
